Creative Toast Ideas

I thought this week I’d give my own spin to the (justified) Avocado Toast craze. There are so many creative ways you can make this meal unique to you. I opted to make my toasts on my favorite homemade protein naan bread! Feel free to try any of these on your favorite bread, tortilla, rice cake, etc.

Here I have three of my favorites: Avocado balsamic, whipped ricotta, thyme and fruit, and a garlic mushroom toast. Be creative! these 3 are just examples of such a versatile meal!

Whipped Ricotta, Thyme, Pear and Peach Toast


  • Ricotta cheese

  • 1 tsp thyme

  • ½ tsp tarragon

  • 1 pear

  • 1 peach

  • Feta cheese


  1. Add ricotta cheese to a mixing bowl

  2. Sprinkle with thyme and tarragon

  3. Whip until spices are incorporated and ricotta has a lighter whipped texture

  4. Spread over bread of choice

  5. Place thin slices of fruit over ricotta, sprinkle with thyme and feta cheese

Strawberry Balsamic and Avocado

One of my favorite nutrition hacks for those who track macros or calories and have a love for avocado. If you mash up your avocado with a bit of low-fat cottage cheese, it adds a bit of protein and lowers the ratio of fat and calories for the same amount of avocado spread!


  • 1 avocado

  • c cottage cheese

  • 1/2 c strawberries

  • Balsamic vinegar


  1. Mash avocado and cottage cheese into a smoother consistency, spread onto bread

  2. Thinly slice strawberries and lay on top of avocado mixture

  3. Lightly drizzle with balsamic vinegar

Garlic spread and Mushroom toast


  • Spreadable garlic cheese wedge (laughing cow)

  • ½ tbsp. minced garlic

  • 1 c mushrooms


  1. Heat a pan over a stove and grease with olive oil or cooking spray

  2. Thinly slice mushrooms and add to pan

  3. Add minced garlic and cook until browned

  4. Spread garlic cheese wedge over bread

  5. Top with cooked mushrooms
